Meaning - Based Translation-Part 1

Translation: Translation means replacement o textual information from SL → TL. It means that the form of SL is transfered to the form of TL.

What is the form?

The form is related to lexical words, gramatical structures and culteral context, it means that different language have different words, different gramatical stracture and different culteral context, but the meaning which is transfered is the same.

I have money (English)

To me there is money (Japanies)

With me there is money (Turkish)

Words may have different meaning in the context and the exact meaning of the wor is used in the context.

The boy runs.

The motor runs.

The river runs.

The nose runs.

 

a word in English can refer to diferent items. Like my house which means :

The house i own.

The house i rent.

The house i live in.

The house i built.

The house i paint.

Sometimes there are different gramatical structures, but the meaning is the same. Like:

The cat is black.

The black cat

the cat which is black.

 

SL: source language

TL: target language
